Salary: $75,000 + superannuation + annual bonus
Employment basis: Casual
Hours: (38 hrs/week)
Location: Harrison, ACT (predominantly, and on location as required)
We are looking for an enthusiastic person who loves working with technology to join our team!
Mel Hill Photography is a busy photography studio based in Canberra specialising in weddings, family portraiture, corporate photography, events, photo booths and event live streaming.
You will be working with the latest technology in photo booths and mobile live streaming equipment - (primarily Apple iOS and Mac, but also some Microsoft Windows based equipment).
No prior knowledge or experience around live-streaming or operating photo booths is expected and full training will be provided, however the successful applicant will need to be a quick learner, have a passion for technology, and possess a ‘knack’ for troubleshooting/problem solving. Other important qualities for this position are reliability, punctuality and immaculate personal presentation.
This is a casual role of 38 hrs/week but conversion to a permanent role can be negotiated at a later date. As this is a position centred around events, it involves a significant evening and weekend commitment in addition to weekday work. Time off can be arranged with good prior notice.
Please note: This is not a photographers position, however some basic experience knowledge of cameras / video would be beneficial. Due to the nature of working in a studio that photographs families you will need to be a non-smoker, maintain a WWVP card, and stay up to date with vaccinations including covid, flu, whooping cough and MMR.
Your day to day responsibilities will include:
Transport, set up, testing, operation, troubleshooting and pack down of photo booths and livestream equipment.
Be able to switch between being professional and discreet at livestream events, and level up with fun and playfulness at photo booth events.
Design and modify photo booth templates using photoshop.
Prepare personalised webpages for live stream events.
Site visits to venues and locations prior to livestream events to establish connectivity where unknown.
Develop relationships with other vendors and actively seek new opportunities.
Participation in advertising/marketing tasks e.g. social media/website content, exhibiting at shows, etc.
Continue to develop and improve our product offerings to stay up to date with latest technology advances and client experience.
Ensure equipment is kept up to date with latest (stable) software and firmware patches.
Ensure equipment is maintained in a constant state of readiness for events.
Video editing of recordings after livestream events.
Administration tasks including making and receiving phone calls, scheduling clients and using our studio management software to manage bookings.
Other related duties as directed.
Over the first 12 months you will:
Manage over 100 live streams for events such as weddings, funerals and corporate jobs and manage over 100 photo booth events.
Compile a database of livestream venues and locations.
Continual improvement of our livestream offering e.g. staying across the latest technology advances and incorporating new software and equipment as they become available.
Upgrade of our photo booth operating software.
Document procedures, workflows, checklists, etc.
Minimum Requirements
A passion for working with technology and possess a knack for troubleshooting.
Available to work most days on most weekends.
Able to lift up to 30kg.
Non smoker.
WWVP Card or eligible to apply for one.
Vaccinated or willingness to be vaccinated (against common illnesses ie. covid, flu, whooping cough, MMR)
Strong attention to to detail, trustworthy, reliable.
Pride in appearance and personal presentation.
Outstanding customer service skills.
Excellent organisation skills, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Articulate, friendly and a good communicator.
Ability to use initiative and work unsupervised - a strong self starter.
Can do attitude, team-player with a good sense of humour!
An ideal candidate would also have:
Ability to drive a manual vehicle.
A basic knowledge of cameras / video and terminology, e.g. exposure, colour temperature, etc.
Some experience using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier Pro/Rush, Canva, and Squarespace.
